It has been a fun week and I am very grateful for everyone who came out. As I announced today, I have chosen not to cut anyone, but I do not want any misunderstanding of the potential lack of playing for those who made the bottom of the JV team. As most of you know, the top 6 player compete for our Varsity team, and the next 6 compete for JV. That means only 12/19 people who tried out are guaranteed a match come match day. If you do not find yourself in this top 12 group and do not wish to face the uphill climb to improve and move up the ladder, I would suggest not accepting a role on the team, and to come back next year (but I truthfully wish no one chooses this option!).
This year I will be keeping 8 kids to practice together as part of our “Varsity” team, and the remaining 11 will practice as JV. As a reminder, Varsity practices Tuesday-Saturday while JV will only be practicing Wednesdays and Saturdays (until after spring break when we can practice before school). Varsity’s first day of practice will be tomorrow (2/9) from 10:00am-12:00pm. JV’s first day of practice will be next Wednesday (2/13). Please refer to the schedules which were provided if there are ever any questions on when you practice.
I will be posting the 8 numbers of people who made Varsity in no particular order- the order will be announced at a later date. I will however post the order of the JV team so that you know where you stand just in case you do not want to compete (again, don’t pick that option!)….
Varsity: 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 15, 17
JV IN ORDER starting at number 3 (one and two are practicing with varsity): 8, 11, 12, 6, 9, 16, 14, 18, 19, 7, 15
Again thank you all for coming out. I will see the top 8 tomorrow, and the rest of you I would fully encourage that you find extra time to play throughout the week– If we had more courts I would have y’all practicing as much as the Varsity, but our current situation unfortunately doesn’t allow that to happen.
If you have any questions for me, please wait until school gets back on Monday to email me.
Thank you all,
